I've done some filesystem (ext2/3/4, j/xfs, reiserfs) benchmarking with bonnie++ on Acer netbook with (somewhat notorious samsung) SSD. Hope it is of any interest. http://dismantle-it.blogspot.com/2008/12/linux-filesystems-benchmark-on-acer.html

Hi Eric,

I had my own doubts: http://www.kev009.com/wp/2008/12/phoronix-benchmarking-statistically-significant-and-other-performance-concerns/

I think he is more concerned about page impressions than factual comparisons or thoughtful analysis.

The phoronix tests are quite flawed; the bonnie++ tests aren't even reporting the proper output fields from the runs (I've notified them of this, and assume they'll fix it, but the site still reflects the flawed data. Hit: ext3 canNOT delete 210 4G files per second). The world is full of bad benchmarks; it's best to approach these things with a critical eye.
